Cheers to 2019!
If you have ever received a card or email from me, you know I sign each and every one with one simple word, Cheers! But cheers isn’t such a simple a word after all and has several definitions. For the rest of this year and into next I encourage you to embrace the word cheers in your everyday life.
Noun: a shout of encouragement, praise, or joy
Make it a practice to give encouragement, praise, and joy – for no reason at all – to those around you. Without needing a reason to give them, you will have many more opportunities to spread this kind of cheer.
Noun: cheerfulness, optimism, or confidence
Make this the year you believe in yourself and all that you are capable of. Have confidence in your voice and in your abilities. Embrace previous failures, learn from them and move on. Make 2019 your bitch.
Verb: give comfort or support to
Now more than ever we need to be able to ask for help. We need to strip away the belief that being vulnerable and asking for help is one of the least courageous acts a person can do. We need to reach out to the people we haven’t heard from in a while and confirm their well-being. And we need to comfort and support those in our lives.
I end 2018 with a heart full of thanks for each and every one of you and all the ways you have enriched my life, and I send you joy, cheerfulness, and optimism for 2019. Happy Holidays!
