June 21 Tasting Notes: Women and Wine and Design

The June 21st Women and Wine Event was a wonderful night of networking, conversation and lots of laughs with the women of the AEC community. The BRIX chicks took us on a virtual tour of the French Riviera sharing stories of the vineyards, winemakers and their love affair with Rosé!

Below are the tasting notes from the event.

2013 Domaine du Bagnol Cassis Blanc –

Located just 200 meters from the Mediterranean, this summertime favorite is a blend of Marsanne, Clairette, and Ugni Blanc. Dry, yet juicy it has notes of white fruit and minerals and is the perfect match with seafood dishes. [We usually start the tastings with a sparkling wine, but this clean fresh wine was the perfect way to kick off our tour through The French Riviera, we all kept asking for just another “small taste!”]

2015 Domaines OTT BY. OTT Côtes du Provence Rosé –

From the makers of the famed rosé, Domaine OTT, BY. OTT is sourced from Château de Selle and Clos Mireille, as well as two additional trusted growers. It’s a blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Cinsault and Syrah.   [This was the clear winner from the night – I don’t think anyone left without a bottle of this wonderful wine tucked into their bag to enjoy on an upcoming warm summer night!]

2015 Commandarie de Peyrassol Rosé –

A perennial favorite, the first recorded harvest was recorded in 1256. A blend of Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah it’s a pale rose color in the glass with notes of stone fruit and minerals. [This was my personal favorite of the night! If you aren’t drinking rosé and aren’t sure if you like it, do yourself a favor and pick up this bottle!]

2013 Mas de la Dame Cuvée La Gourmande Rouge –

Mas de la Dame, or “farm of the women,” is owned by Anne Poniatowski and Caroline Missoffe. Made from 50% Syrah and 50% Greanche it’s rich, full, and round with ripe red fruit flavors and hint of spice. [Our only red wine of the night, it was so versatile it can be served at room temperature or with a slight chill to enjoy on warm summer nights.]

I really enjoy putting these wine tasting networking events together, the wine and the company cannot be beat. I look forward to December when we will host our next event celebrating our one year anniversary of the Women and Wine Networking Series.

Cheers!

JB
