Let’s Hear It For The Girls: Wine Tasting Notes
Not all girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice, some girls are made of sarcasm and wine and everything fine.
The Let’s Hear It For The Girls Wine Tasting and Networking Event brought together a tremendously fun and fabulous group of women. The wine lineup was spectacular and the company couldn’t be beat. Below is what we had the pleasure of enjoying together.
NV Hattingley Valley Classic Reserve
Bubbles from Britain? Yes you heard that right. Although famous or Gin and Beer (both delicious) England has been producing wine since Roman Imperial times (100 – 400 AD). The Hattingley Valley Classic Reserve Sparkling Wine puts England on the map as a real deal producer of bubblies. This wine is perfect as an aperitif or celebration wine, and at just 12% alcohol you could enjoy it for breakfast, and spend the remainder of the day testing out your best English accent. Cheerio!
2016 Weingut Müller-Grossman GroBer Satz Grüner Veltliner
This wine from Helma Müller-Grossmann and Marlies Müller, a mother daughter team is a versatile food companion for both the classic and modern kitchen. Marlies suggests pairing this wine with seafood pasta, Helma thinks it would pair nicely with Austrian “Schinkenfleckerl”, have fun Googling that. This wine is lively, acidic and fun, so pair it with something light and fresh and you can’t go wrong, and at only 13% you can definitely enjoy at lunch.
2016 Ampeleia Unlitro IGT Costa Toscana Red
This wine comes in a liter sized bottle. Do you need me to write anymore? It’s so fun in so many ways, not just the handy liter size, but a small part of the harvest undergoes carbonic maceration which gives the wine a fun bright texture, and the wine is not aged in wood or stainless steel – it goes real old school and is aged six months in cement tanks. Do yourself a favor, throw this bottle in your bag with some Italian meat, cheese and a hunk of bread and make an instant pop up party wherever you go.
2015 Domaine Giraud Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge “Les Sables d`Arene”
This wine is organic, biodynamic, made by a brother sister team, 100% Grenache and it makes you feel good inside. Domaine Giraud is one of the up-and-coming superstars of the appellation, and this is a big wine harvested from 60 year old vines, so maybe save this one for dinnertime.
As always, thank you for coming, creating such a great event, sharing your energy and being part of my network!
