Take A Seat
On June 1, I had the opportunity to attend Take A Seat gala and charity auction hosted by the New England Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association. The highlight of the evening was the live auction where beautiful “up- cycled” chairs, designed by local architects, builders, craftsmen and students of the furnishing and design industry, were auctioned off.
All of the proceeds from the chairs went to three amazing charities; Friends of the Children- Boston, They Lyceum Fellowship and The Women’s Institute for Housing & Economic Development. I was the very proud winner of the “Lady in Red” chair designed by Allison Iantosca, of F.H. Perry, and Connie Kolman, of Kolman Artisan Glass. For this chair all the proceeds went to the Friends of the Children- Boston. This wonderful non-profit organization’s goal is to break the cycle of generational poverty through salaried, professional mentoring. They work with children in high risk communities who are statistically at serious risk of continuing the cycle of poverty in their own lives.
Because of this event, we not only have a beautiful piece of furniture and one of a kind art in the office, we are reminded of the great work that The Friends of the Children- Boston are doing every day.
